Remember green goddess dressing?
It used to be pretty popular from the 70s and 80s initially when i first experienced it. If I’m not mistaken it was actually one of many common dressings for any typical California state greens with mixed green veggies, alfalfa sprouts and sunflower seeds, that you could order on the aptly referred to as Very good The planet bistro in Palo Alto.
Natural Goddess seems like a dressing up right out of Marin State central throwing, but obviously it absolutely was developed in the 20s, with the cook on the Palace Hotel (wonderful accommodation, nonetheless there) in San Francisco, to remember the actor George Arliss with his fantastic enjoy, The Environmentally friendly Goddess.
Pre-Online, being unsure of the provenance of the dressing, all I cared about was which it tasted great, good enough to cover up the flavor of alfalfa sprouts which luckily people don’t take in a lot of any more, and it was named “green” and “goddess” which appealed to this particular Birkenstock-using hippie wanna-be.
Italian parsley and garlic chives
Fast forward to now, and you know what? This dressing up is a gardener’s fantasy. I simply selected some natural herbs from the backyard, pured these with some anchovy mixture (essential), lemon juice, garlic, sour lotion and mayo.
Furthermore, this recipe makes the sort of dressing that kind of glops on, so you want to chuck it together with the lettuce green veggies, to just lightly coat the greens before providing. Or provide it a drop. It’s great distribute on crackers or with crudits.
